Linocuts & Paintings

For the past twenty years I have been working on a series of limited edition reductive linocut prints and paintings. The linocut process mirrors that of the Japanese woodblock process. I carve an image into a block, roll ink over the block and then press the inked block onto paper. I employ multiple colors in my prints. The printing process is unique in that the final image is an inversion of the original. The marks made by the carving knife create negative space or absence of color, while the part of the block left uncarved is the part that leaves a mark. Each color represents a separate carving and once the block is carved, there is no going back. While there may be 15-50 prints in a series, each one created is unique. My Linocut prints are on paper either framed or unframed, and on wood. Prices range from $48-$165. My paintings range in price from $65-$1200. Inquiries:phoenixsees@gmail.com
